Telesis Preparatory Academy is growing! With 140 more students registered for next school year, Telesis Preparatory Academy’s expansion program is on the move! A building project which includes a long-awaited gymnasium, inside cafeteria, and 14 additional classrooms is on the drawing board and ground-breaking construction is planned for late summer or early fall.
Obviously with more students totaling approximately 445 K-12, some students (and teachers) will need to be off-campus for awhile until the new facility is complete and ready for occupancy. Asking the youngest students to relocate to a second site doesn’t appear logical, so Telesis Preparatory Academy’s older students in Junior Academy and Academy (traditional grades 7-12) will begin their school year at a secondary, alternative location. After two months of a thorough search of possibilities throughout the city, Site 2 has been selected to be the temporary school home for 160-180 middle school and high school students and their 12 teachers. Site 2, located at 1055 Empire Drive, contains 11 classrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 inside room for the free breakfast and lunch students will receive next school year, 1 small office, and upstairs storage space. Students and teachers will have all the amenities that the current campus has with computer access in a computer lab and in the classroom monitored by teachers and a technology coordinator. In addition to other electives, a Performing Arts elective will be offered to students at the Grace Arts Live Dance Studio under the direction of Grace Ann Etcheberria-Jacobs and Jason Fallis.
Upon completion of the new facility on the main campus, Telesis Preparatory Academy’s younger student population of approximately 300 who also are expanding to fill up every classroom in the present 14-classroom campus, will rejoin the upper grade student body together once again on one campus. At that time, Junior Academy and Academy students will move back to the main campus into the new classrooms to complete the expansion program and where all can enjoy the new gym and cafeteria. Telesis is on the move!
