Which electives are you most interested in taking?
ACADEMY ART/Visual art is a course that provides an introduction to art through a multi-media experience. Students will learn and apply the elements and principles of design to produce creative art projects that reflect their understanding of these concepts.
ART HISTORY/This course is designed to give students the opportunity to discover, appreciate, and acquire knowledge of art history though the ages, from the Paleolithic era to contemporary times.
ACCOUNTING/Foundational Study in the basics of accounting.
ASTRONOMY/Study of the Galaxy from birth to planets back to holes. Basic Introductory overview to build understanding of our universe.
BUSINESS MATH/Study of the business cycle through the manufacturing process.
CULTURAL STUDIES/Study of geography as a social science focused on globalization and cultural diversity.
DOMESTIC ARTS /The course includes: Workplace skills, measuring, moist/dry heat, soups, cookies, confections, baking and kitchen chemistry. Canning and preserving as well as cake decorating basics are also introduced. (class fee is required)
FILM APPRECIATION and ANALYSIS/help students understand the critical historical and stylistic elements of cinema. These courses help students form an aesthetic framework to examine social, political, and historical events in the world and to understand how moving images express the ideas of individuals and society. Course content may include analysis, discussion, and evaluation of multiple film styles including, but not limited to, documentary, short film, drama, horror, and comedy.
FINANCIAL MATH/Study of personal finance from income to retirement. Elective or 4th Math
FOREIGN LANGUAGE/Rosetta Stone
MACROECONOMICS/Comprehensive entry level study into the global economy concepts.
MICROSOFT OFFICE 2016(II)/)- Advanced skills of Microsoft 2016 in the context of business scenarios. Provides Office Specialist Core level instruction – from Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access to internet basics, keyboarding practice, and Outlook section
PERFORMING ARTS/This course is designed to teach the appreciation of theater and drama which include: a short history, play-writing, stage terminology, Memorization. Students will spend an amount time preparing for Plays.
PERSONAL FINANCE/This course is to introduce students with a basic understanding of personal finance. The study shall include on-line activities and projects with focus on: Gross Income; Net Income; Record Keeping; Banking; Purchases; Charge/ Credit Accounts; Loans; Auto Costs; Housing Costs; Insurances and Investments. Technological studies shall be used through internet activities and accounting spreadsheet programs.
PHILANTHROPY/Study focused on gaining understanding and use of resources to aid micro and global communities
PHOTOGRAPHY/This course will teach the basic of photographic composition and lighting, the basics of using a digital camera, basics of color theory and the parts to a camera.
PSYCHOLOGY/This entry level course will provide students with an introduction to the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior in a given context.
PUBLIC SPEAKING/This course is designed to offer the student a number of opportunities to organize and prepare public speaking assignments, they will learn about delivery styles, and the effectiveness of language, gestures, and organization techniques.
QUICKBOOKS/Hands on introduction to a leading accounting program. Uses fictitious companies to work through the accounting cycles from opening of a company to year end. Prerequisite: C or better in Accounting
SOCIOLOGY/This entry level course will provide students with an introduction to the study of the development, structure, and functioning of human society, along with the study of social problems.
STREET LAW/This course focuses on the practical aspects of the law, with emphasis on public issues including technology, legal disputes, and legal aspects facing our democracy.
TEEN LEADERSHIP/Teen Leadership is a program in which students develop leadership, professional, and business skills, including public speaking. Teen Leadership students will develop an understanding of Emotional Intelligence and the skills it measures, which include self-awareness, self- control, self-motivation, and social skills.
YEARBOOK/this course has been designed to provide students with the journalism skills and the ability to apply those skills to the actual production of the yearbook. Units of study include teamwork, responsibility, brainstorming, content, coverage, concept, reporting, writing, headlines, captions, editing, photography, typography, design, graphics, finances, yearbook campaigns, advertising and distribution.
